Disabled Debtors

If you’ve wondered about filing bankruptcy but have some kind of disability, generally the court can work around it.

For mobility impaired people, the Court and the 341 Meeting locations are all wheelchair accessible. The one limitation for Oahu filers, there is handicap parking available in the Court building but you need to pay the regular hourly rate for it (last I checked it was $3.50 for 1/2 hour).

For visually and hearing impaired people, the Court and credit counseling agencies are required to provide interpreters if necessary.

If none of these options are adequate, another method would be to designate someone else as your attorney in fact so he/she can sign your papers and/or attend your 341 meeting for you.
